I have been using this spray for the past year and a half. I adore it. Its a rich dark brown and is easy to use. I get my hair dryer out and plugged in. I place a colored hand towel on the floor of my shower go in, close the door and do a light spray. I then come out and blow dry…1-3 thin applications works best. I like to spray my face after I’ve applying my foundation, my pores clog easily and applying foundation first helps a lot. It the many many can of this that I have used I have only had one can stop spraying before it was empty. I’ve never had weird dots like the other reviewer described except when I get right to the end of the can. And even then I lightly rub it in and then wash my hands. Again I think this is an amzing product. No orangy color at all…just brown and no one can tell. I’ve got several of my girlfriends hooked on it also!

I was only able to use the product once and it worked great! I was very impressed. I rinsed the nozzle like the directions told me to. About half way into the 2nd time I used it, it suddenly stopped spraying. I thought maybe it was clogged, so I rinsed it with warm water again. BUT no! It never worked again. So, I spent on one application! Very disappointed.

Tried this after seeing in a magazine. Works great and your skin does not appear orange. It has the best smell

of any bronzer I have used. The mist is cooling and not overpowering. You do have to be careful not to put on too much. This gives a similar color to Glow Fusion spray from Sephora but costs 1/5 of the price and the best part is you do not have to rub it in so your hands stay clean!

I was planning on going to the beach and didn’t want my skim milk-colored legs to scare anyone. So being the metrosexual that I am, I tried out this product.

The instructions are rather vague on how much product one should apply. I sprayed my legs until they were shiny wet… which was a big mistake! When I woke up the next morning I found my legs looked like they were dipped in chocolate! So next time I’ll just apply a fine mist.

It’s hard to judge how much of the product has been applied because it’s clear. Also, the areosol can produces quite a cloud of mist. I recommend going outside or staying in the shower. Be careful, self-tanners will permanently “tan” any cotton fabric it comes in contact with (like towels).

I use selftan all the time and this time I was attracted by the wand. It`s really useful, I can finally apply selftan to my back without help or doing gymnastics. Here`s what I like:

- the wand is awesome and easy to use,

- the spray is great; very light and clear,

- tan came out even and really natural (for more dramatic results I can reapply the next day), last long and fades gradually,

- the fragrance is not overpowering, although next day in the morning I recognized this specific selftan smell (not strong, it`s shower time anyway).

One can last about 4 full body applications.

When I compare the whole experience to mystic tan SheerTan wins-it doesn`t smell, leaves clothes clean, not expensive, I don`t have to drive to tan salon.

For airplane travelling, when I take carry on only I love Tan Towel Toweletts, another winner! For beautiful glow and instant results I love Lancome self bronzer Medium Colour Oil-Free Tinted Self-Tanning Lotion for Face (all Lancomes selftan products are great). For one application dark color, no strikes and smooth skin I adore L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gel Medium-Deep. Those my top products after few years of trying and searching.

Overall I like SheerTan a lot, but I`m gonna also use other products, depends what results I need, how much time I have etc.

Every summer since I can remember, I’ve been self-conscious about my white legs – there was even taunting when I was in grade school, so my quest for the perfect self-tanning product to cover my porcelain pins began young. Over the years, I’ve used every type of sunless tanning product starting with that orangy Avon lotion in the early 1980s; I’ve utilized tanning booths and gave up after thirteen sessions and only a burn to show for it; and I’ve booth spray tanned and airbrush spray tanned with “professionals”, but how often do you want to shell out – for four days of being tan? It gets really spendy, really fast.

And then I stumbled on SheerTan. I think the Gods of Sunless Tanning were smiling on me that day. SheerTan satisfied every qualification that I was looking for in a sunless tanner: it’s easy to apply, it lasts for three days before you need to shave your legs/exfoliate and reapply, and it gives me realistic colour. You also get MANY applications with SheerTan. Only using the product on my full legs, I get 15 applications out of one can. That’s less than per application! To me, it would be a bargain at twice the price.

If I can pass along a tip, one thing I learned early on is that using a thick, emollient body lotion to apply the product only helps you “rub it off” instead of “rubbing it in”. I will never again expose my skin to another tanning bed! I am in love with this product!! I have tried so many self-tanners and, like most other reviewers, was turned off by the orange oompa-loompa look they almost inevitably give. Well, no more! This product gives me a beautiful golden color without a hint of orange. It looks exactly like a suntan is supposed to look! I have extremely fair skin that burns quite easily, so it takes me almost all summer to finally end up with a tan. Now, I don’t have to hassle. I just spray it on!! I have used this product for 2 years and will never buy anything else. This is so much better than even the expensive department store brands. Here is my process for a streak-free, never blotchy, always beautiful glow:

1. Shower and exfoliate. Get all the dead skin off or you will have blotches.

2. After showering, pull hair off of face. I use a head band and a pony to keep it off my neck and face.

3. Make sure you are completely dry. If water drips on you after you apply the product you will have drip marks.

4. Apply GENEROUS amounts of lotion to your elbows, knees, top toes, in between toes, tops of fingers and in between fingers.

5. Put on a pair of disposable gloves.

6. Lay a towel down on the floor and get back in the shower.

7. Starting with the back of legs and working up, hold the can as far away from your body as possible (12 inches… no less) Make quick back and forth motions up your body until you reach your butt. Quickly do the outsides of your legs. Doing this quickly is the key to no blotches so only go over each area once. It will feel like you aren’t really putting hardly anything on.. you don’t need to! If you want a darker tan, you can repeat later.

8. Next, do your shoulders then arch your back to reach it. Again, holding can as far from your body as possible.

9. Lift your arms one at a time to do each of your sides.

10. Lift your chin and starting at your neck, go quickly back and forth over the front of your body.

11. You do NOT need to spray the tops of your feet. TRUST me on this! Enough product is landing there on its own.

12. VERY quickly and holding the can almost completely arms length away, give your face a spray while holding your breath.

13. Step out of the shower and onto the towel. If you have any spots you sprayed too much product on, rub it in now.

14. Lift the edge of the towel up and rub all the lotion off your feet and toes, then your knees, and then your elbows.

15. Take off the gloves and with the lotion still on, hold your hands inside your shower and give them a QUICK one time spray.

16. Rub the lotion off of your hands with the towel.

17. Wait 10 minutes to dress and enjoy your beautiful tan!!

I typically put this on every 2 or 3 days to keep my golden glow. If you want darker, just apply daily until you reach the desired color and then go every 2 or 3 days to maintain.

I used this product without reading the label first. It contains two types of nut oils! If you are allergic to nuts beware! I sprayed this all over my body and a few hours later I became very ill with an extremely inflamed throat, vomiting and weakness with all the other symptoms associated with a nut allergy. I ended up in E.R. I was very ill for two weeks and weak for a month. I also had some cardiac arrythmias which entailed my having to have a lot of follow-up testing. I do have to say that I had a great tan, so if you don’t have a nut allergy, go ahead. I still had three unopened containers which I sent back to the company. They did not give me a refund, instead they emailed me something about a credit.

At first I did as the directions said and did not rub it in – BIG MISTAKE! However, the color was nice and it lasted through my workouts and showering after about 4 hrs of using it. So, I tried again, instead, I blended it. This seemed to work. I’ve mastered a routine of how to get the best results. I spray my arms first, rub it in, wash my hands. Then I do my chest and torso area, rub it in, wash my hands. I continue this doing my legs from the knees down and then from the knees up. I did find that I was coughing after I did this, so I bought those face masks that doctors use and it seems to help. By the way, the smell is quite pleasant. From someone who has tried several alternatives, I’d definitely recommend this product (but make sure to rub in!).

I have used this product several times this summer and have not had one bad experience. I have an extremely fair skin tone and it still covers well with nice “real” looking color. I do believe it probably lasts longer on someone who has an olive skin tone or something similar.

Exfoliating just before application will help remove and dry flakey skin, and that is important.

The best advice I can give regarding this product is you need to use it just as the manufacturer recommends. If you spray too close to your skin then you would (as one reviewer stated) end up with uneven color, missed spots and even drips. Even though it is colorless when being applied, if you watch carefully you can see if you have gotten too close and if too much tanner has been applied in a specific area. I use a small make-up sponge and dab those spots lightly to prevent dripping and uneven color. If you find you have missed an area it is easily touched up after color is fully developed, (on average 8-10 hours).

This was new to me as well and the best advice I can give anyone is practice makes perfect! Start out applying lightly, and once you have a feel for how to effectivley apply it, you will end up with nice color that doesn’t wash off with one or two showers.

I’ve been sunless tanning for well over 7 years. When I don’t sunless tan, I am naturally so pale that I have a blue tint. A CPR instructor once used me as an example of what someone would look like if they weren’t getting enough oxygen, and no, I’m not kidding you. I’ve used everything from drugstore graduals to airbrush solutions, and I hope they never stop making this Fake Bake lotion. There’s a sunless tanning community forum where this was mentioned as being foolproof, and I thought I’d try it as I always ended up with streaking on my legs with the airbrush solution I was using, and graduals didn’t give me enough color to be worth it.

Let me tell you, this Fake Bake lotion is great, definitely foolproof. The first time I used this was on vacation which is a little scary but I wasn’t disappointed. The only places I don’t apply the Fake Bake are my hands and feet (I blend Dove med-dark Energy Glow there into my wrists and ankles) and my face (I worried that the dark color guide would get in my pores, so I use clear airbrush solution on my face). I’ll apply 2 coats in the same night, by applying one coat all over starting at my ankles and then once I’ve finished doing my arms, I’ll go right back and apply more on my legs, working my way up again. (Don’t worry if the color guide doesn’t blend in evenly at this point, it’ll come out even in the morning.) This will make me as dark as I can get. The first time I used Fake Bake my husband noticed and exclaimed, “You are TAN!” He thought it looked very good and natural, and all the times I’ve used the Fake Bake since then, he still gives it a thumbs up. I love it. The Fake Bake doesn’t have the best scent to my husband, but he doesn’t mind as he knows it’s important to me to be tan, and to be tan without the sun or tanning beds.

Some rules apply to all self-tanners, otherwise you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. Here goes:

1) You have to exfoliate before you tan. Use exfoliation gloves you can find at any drugstore, and don’t bother with scrubs (like the paste kind that come in a tube or tub), they just don’t work as well. Get exfoliation gloves.

2) Tan in the evening, giving yourself 30 minutes to dry before heading to bed. Tanning during the day simply does not work. You’ll smell funny, it’ll get on your clothes, and you can’t avoid water during the day. Let the tan develop while you sleep!

3) Make sure your sheets are dark colored, like burgundy, dark brown, or plum colored. If you have white or cream colored sheets, forget about it, they will be brown in the morning. I also have a thick mattress pad because sunless tanner will work its way through a fitted sheet and stain your mattress if you don’t have a pad under your sheets.

4) Wear gloves! You have to wear gloves! Using bare hands and washing them afterward has never worked for me. Wear gloves until you’ve finished everywhere else, then tan your hands with a gradual tanner and blending into your wrists well.

5) Apply lotion to your palms after you’ve finished gradual tanning your hands, and rub your palms to your elbows to get a good bit of lotion there, and this will sound weird, but carefully apply lotion with a fingertip to the knuckle on your big toes. They grab tanner on me, so I apply lotion there too. Then take a paper towel and rub the lotion off your palms and big toe knuckles, and wipe the lotion off your elbows (because of the color guide, it’ll look odd there, but it’ll be even in the morning). Use the now-lotion-covered paper towel to wipe your fingernails and cuticles off.

6) Avoid water until the morning. Don’t brush your teeth after you’ve applied sunless tanner, you’ll end up with a lovely pale ring around your mouth because the tanner was disturbed there.

I hope this helps! It’s never too late to stop UV tanning and start sunless tanning. Your skin will thank you!

I read many great reviews for Fake Bake Self-Tanner on different websites so I decided to give it a try (Amazon had the best price). I’m glad I did because this stuff really works! I’m have fair skin and Fake Bake gives me a nice light brown tan with just one use. I found that my tan looks best if I apply it 2 days in a row. The only bad thing about it is that you MUST wear gloves when applying it. It WILL stain your hands. Unfortunately I learned this the hard way. BTW, when I got some on my bathroom rug I threw it in the wash right away and it didn’t stain at all.

I am a die hard tanner. Years ago due to an illness, I could no longer tan in a tanning bed or outside. Therefore, I tried spray tanning. It does not work. It streaks, no matter what and is over priced. So, I began my own research and finally found Body Drench Tanning Mist. It dries quickly and does not streak. You can easily fix missed places with by rubbing into the skin. I have been asked by individuals that use a tanning bed, where I tan and when I say out of a Can…Imagine the look.

I’m hooked….By far, it is the best product I have found and believe me, I went through them all….:o)
